German 2231 focuses on classic readings in intermediate German which allow for a comparative reading. Accompanied by an intermediate Grammar, the course is intended to help students to read and discuss literary texts, and to express themselves more idiomatically and accurately in speaking as well as in writing.

Essays
Students
are required to prepare 5 short essays (at least 300 words in length) on readings
and discussion topics. All written assignments are due on the date given on the
syllabus. No late homework assignments are accepted. Assignments should be
typed (double-spaced). Essays should be based on the general discussion of the
readings.
Grammar
There
will be three grammar quizzes; part of the final will be concerned with the
grammar structures covered in class.
Final
The
final will cover content and vocabulary of all texts and the grammar covered in
class.
