Brett Burkey - Spanish River High School

Brett has actively participated in the Center’s stock market workshop.  He has also presented lessons from "Election Economics" at the NCEE national conference.  Recently, Brett has helped with a successful teacher workshop entitled, “Economics in U.S. History.” 

 Last year, Brett trained for a week with Eastern European educators in the National Council on Economic Education’s program “Training of the Writers.”  The program, which was held in Romania, puts U.S. and Eastern European teachers together to work on writing effective economics lessons for high school students around the world.  Brett is currently working on his masters in economic education.

 Brett has also been a leader in promoting economics in high schools across Palm Beach County.  He wrote the Palm Beach County school district’s economics curriculum.  He has been appointed to the Educational Advisory Group (EAG) for the District 6 Federal Reserve Branch Bank in Miami.  This group advises that Federal Reserve Bank on how to deliver its educational programs in the South Florida area. 

Ginny Meachum - Coral Spring High School

As the 2003 Distinguished Stock Market Simulation Advisor of the Year, Ginny has many insights to offer to her fellow teachers in terms of how to implement the game in their classroom.  Ginny offers this advise in our Stock Market Workshop.  Additionally, Ginny has been trained in Virtual Economics, the CD-ROM published by the National Council on Economic Education which includes economic education materials for all K-12 teachers.  Ginny has also completed NCEE's "Training of the Writers" program.

Her most recent contribution to the Center was conducting lessons for the workshop “Economics in U.S. History.”

In addition to her contributions to the Center, she has also been professionally active.  She has attended a number of conferences on economic education including the National Council on Economic Education Convention and the AP Economics Convention.  She has improved her skills by attending a number of training workshops by the Foundation for Teaching Economics.
