Knowing Our Earth from Space
I am a professor in the
Department of Geosciences at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). I
received my first Ph.D. in Ocean Remote Sensing from Ocean University of
China (OUC) in 2007 and second Ph.D. in Geospatial Information Sciences
from University of Texas at Dallas in 2010. My research focuses on
vegetation characterization in the Florida Everglades, coastal hazard,
land cover land use dynamics, and spatial modeling and analysis. My
publications have appeared in peer-reviewed journals such as Remote Sensing of Environment,
Photogrammetric Engineering and Remote Sensing, Journal of Geophysical Research, Geophysical Research Letters, and The Professional Geographer. I was awarded 2015 John I.
Davidson President’s Award from ASPRS; 2013 ERDAS Award for Best Scientific Paper in
Remote Sensing (First Place) from ASPRS; 2012 Early Career Paper Award by the Remote Sensing
Specialty Group (RSSG) of Association of American Geographers (AAG); 2010
First Place of Student Honors Paper Competition by RSSG of AAG. I am
teaching Hyperspectral Remote
Sensing, Aerial Photo
Interpretation and Photogrammetry, LiDAR Remote Sensing, and Digital
Image Analysis, at FAU.
Our Department has a
strong GIS&RS program. Potential graduate students who have special
research interest and aptitude in GIS&RS can talk to me.
